Product Overview

Hodgdon HS-6 is a fine spherical propellant built for broad use in pistol and shotshell reloading. It gives the handloader one powder with applications across select handgun cartridges and heavy field shotshell loadings—a useful place to start when the bench includes both.

In pistol cartridges, HS-6 provides top performance in 9mm, .38 Super, .40 S&W, and 10mm Auto. As with any propellant selection, match the cartridge, components, and charge weight to published Hodgdon data before loading.

For shotshell work, HS-6 yields excellent heavy field loadings in 28-, 20-, 12-, and 10-gauge. That coverage makes it a capable option for reloaders assembling heavier field loads across several gauges.

HS-6 is identical to Winchester's discontinued 540 propellant. Made in the USA, it is offered in 1 lb. and 8 lb. containers to suit different loading volumes.
