Kimber 84M Mountain Ascent .308 Win Skyfall Rifle 3000900. Durable and exceptionally accurate, the Mountain Ascent is the lightest production bolt action big game rifle available today. The Mountain Ascent uses Kimber’s legendary 84M action, a reliable system that features a Mauser type claw extractor for true controlled round feeding and extraction. The 84M action was also specifically designed to accommodate cartridges with dimensions similar to .308 Win. Production rifles of a lesser quality simply shorten the bulky full-sized actions to accept the shorter cartridges, making them weigh the same as a magnum. The 84M Mountain Ascent on the other hand weighs just over five lbs, and features an ideal barrel length for optimal velocities. Other features include a wing safety that uses the 3-position, model 70-type pattern; the first position is “fire,” the middle position is “safe” and the third position locks the bolt in place.
